Randers Social- og Sundhedsskole

Randers Social- og og Sundhedsskole is a local and regional vocational school that offers basic and advanced train for students and workers within the welfare sector. The school is located in the mid region of Jutland in Randers with a subsidiary department ind Grenaa.

The school offers three different educations; the social and healthcare helper education (step 1/basic level)m the social og and healthcare assistant education (step 2/advanced level) and the chilcare assistant education (EQF eve 3 an 4). All three educations are carrie out in close cooperation with local and regional employers and the school collaborates daily with 4 municipalities. In 2016 the school welcomed 995 students. Apart from the main education programmes the school also offers supplementary and targeted training courses for skilled staff in the welfare sector, specialized courses for immigrants/refugees as well as preparing courses for unemployed adults and young people. The school has about 110 employees, of which the greater part are teachers representing various disciplines: nurses, social workers, pedagogues, occupational therapists, teachers, physiotherapists, psychologists mm. The students incentive to take an education at our school is that they would like to work with people in the fields of healthcare and childcare which requires competences to deal with people with various backgrounds. Tasks and responsibilities related to caretaking is a part of their education. The school is organised in collaborating teacher teams specialised according to their profession and the education they teach at. The school has approx. 70 teachers and 3 area managers. The school's upper management consists of four persons; being the principal/ director, 1 head of administration & finances and 2 deans/head of education. Furthermore, the school has specialists working professionally and strategically with quality, project participation and pedagogical and educational development.

RELEVANT ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
The school is acting as partner in various international mobility projects together with other Nordic and European partners. For a number of years the school has worked with mobility under PIU and Erasmus+ KA 1 and has established competences in regard to project management and administration. The interest for student mobility is steadily increasing. The school is currently working on a project (KA 102-2016-024) together with two other Social- and Healthcare schools who both have a broad experience with international projects and mobility. Moreover the school is partner in a KA2 project (2016-1-NO01-KA201-022082) together with German and Norwegian VET schools. During 2015 and 2016 the school has worked very focused with the development of pedagogical leadership. The New Zealand education research scientist, Vivian Robinson, has inspired the management team to focus on leaders' participation in teachers' learning and competence development (lnstructional leadership). The school management has worked theoretically and practically with the subject of letting a strong pedagogical leadership play a role in improving the quality of the educations. In connection with the nationwide project "Model School" in cooperation with the retention taskforce at the ministry, several leaders have taken part in a development course for pedagogical leaders. SKILLS AND EXPERTISE OF KEY PERSONS INVOLVED IN PROJECT:
The project facilitator of the current project has a masters degree in Education Development and is present a Ph.D. student and will be able to contribute with comprehensive theoretical knowledge on pedagogical leadership as a management discipline. Furthermore, the project facilitator is an experienced consultant working together with a number of Danish VET schools with the purpose of developing and improving pedagogical leadership.
The participating teachers and area managers have been selected based on their commitment, knowledge about classroom leadership and language skills.
